Late push eases USC past CSU Bakersfield

LOS ANGELES, CA- Despite six 3-pointers and 22 points from Cal State Bakersfield redshirt senior forward Damiyne Durham, USC survived the Roadrunners, 90-75, behind 22 points and 9 rebounds from sophomore forward Jordan Usher.

USC head coach Andy Enfield said, “[Usher] played a great game. He had a lot of energy. His rebounding was terrific.” Usher added, “I just waited my turn and took advantage of my opportunity.”

Trojan freshman sensation Kevin Porter Jr. (14.0 PPG) missed Saturday afternoon’s action with a right quad contusion. Redshirt junior point guard Derryck Thornton was also out with a sprained ankle. Both players are day-to-day.

“I’m tired,” Boatwright said, after playing a total of 38 minutes and scoring 19 points in just his sixth game back from last year’s season-ending knee injury.

Boatwright also contributed 8 rebounds for the Trojans. Junior guard Jonah Mathews added 13 points and shot 3-of-5 from beyond the arc. Redshirt senior Shaqquan Aaron scored 18.
